Schedule-It!
by: Keith Luken
(c)copyright 1994 Keith Luken
Schedule-It! is a GUI program for OS/2 that allows you to schedule
different events to run at various times on various days.
It should be very straight forward to use. The list box shows the
day the event is scheduled for (0 = EVERY, 1 = MONDAY, etc.),
the time the event is scheduled to run (00:00 to 23:59) and
then it will show a Y if the event has been run on the current day
since the program has been started, or N which indicated the event
has not run on the current day since the program was started.
This is then followed by the event command line. When adding
or editing an event the EVENT line should be entered EXACTLY as you
want it passed to OS/2. Schedule-It! uses a START command to
spin the app off. This means you can use ANY of the paramaeters
that the START command in OS/2 supports. (from OS/2 command
prompt type HELP START to see the valid command parameters.)
This program requires the VROBJ.DLL version 2 file dated
1/26/94 or later. I have included it in the .ZIP
file. If you have a newer version be sure to use that
version first. If you do not already have the VROBJ.DLL
file then be sure to copy the one supplied to a
subdirectory in that is included in your LIBPATH=
statement in the OS/2 CONFIG.SYS. Typically this should
be \OS2\DLL. This program also requires that your have REXX
loaded on your OS/2. This is the normal OS/2 default.
The shareware version will only save 2 events! You can schedule
more than 2 events, but ony 2 will be saved in the INI file.
The registered version has is limited only by what an OS/2
LISTBOX will support. I'm sure that is higher than what is
practical.
** NOTE:
Schedule-IT! does house cleaning at 00:00 and it is
NOT advisable to have many events running at that time.
The program checks the time approximately every 20 seconds.
If you have a very slow system with many events scheduled
for the same time and additional events set for the very
next minute you may loss events. I don't think this
limitation will every be seen by anyone. After all how
many events would anyone want to start at a given time??
I suspect this would be a problem if you had several dozen
events set for a given minute and then had additional events
set for the very next minute!! Not very practical as I said.
It is also not advisable to RESET EVENTS during the same exact
minute eventss are scheduled, this may cause an event
to run twice!
Registration:
Schedule-It! can be registered for $10 if received prior to 8/1/94,
after which the normal regsitration will be $25. The
registration is also good for KLBENCH, KL-ZIP and any
future PHANTASM SOFTWARE products for OS/2 through the
end of 1995.
